It runs in the family!

There is no doubt that a little bit of creativity runs in the family . . . it's just my son's choice of canvas I disagree with! Perhaps a small reminder to me to not turn my back on him for so long . . .

Another Let's Scrap Sketch!

This layout is based on the latest sketch released by Let's Scrap - it was absolutely perfect for my daughter's 5th birthday photos :-) I love how the sketches incorporate so many photos, but don't feel cluttered to me. It is always great to get more photos on a page in my opinion - cuz I usually have a ton to sort thru, especially for events like birthday parties! So thank you Let's Scrap!

Happy Scrappin'!

My First Let's Scrap layout

Hello Scrappers! I found an amazing sketch and meet-up site the other day, called Let's Scrap! The ladies on this site are uber talented and the sketches are phenomenal to say the least. There are constant challenges and page calls as well. This layout is based on the first sketch of '11, hope you enjoy - it cases photos from my families Christmas in 2000!

Be sure to check out http://letsscrap.ning.com/ to see more sketches!

Day 10 Favourites - That's a Wrapped Canvas!

Well 10 days into the New Year and last day of my Top 10. To wrap it up I thought I'd show you the non-Christmas canvas' I did last year - all of them sold :-) I love making up canvas' but find it extremely humourous that I have yet to make one for my own home or kids! Maybe this year . . . In the meantime, enjoy these ones and thank you for being part of my Top 10 of 2010!

Happy Scrapping!

Day 9 Favourite - Fall in love with Flip Flaps!

Yikes! Almost forgot to post today - and technically I did since it is 2am so already tomorrow - sorry folks but I was . . . wait for it . . . scrapbooking! Have decided to make a Christmas over the years album and have been scrapbooking old Christmas photos - which of course leads to some major reminiscing in the process :-) Anyhow, here is my day 9 favourite - my daughter at the pumpkin patch with her kindergarten class. The layout uses paper from Close To My Hearts National Papercrafting month promotion "Felicity" which was a HUGE hit for obvious reasons - it's gorgeous! The colours were perfect for the Pumpkin Patch.

The best part of this layout though is the Memory Protector Flip Flaps that CTMH introduced last year in 4x6 but are now also available in 4x12, 6x12, and 8x12! They are the perfect way to add more and more photos to one layout without compromising design. You can stick them right to the outside of your memory protector page too - see how I turned one 4x6 photo slot into a mini album of FIVE 4x6 photos?! Saved the "Gobble, gobble turkey for last :-) He really did "gobble" at us too!

Happy Scrapping!

Day 8 Favourites - Happy Birthday Cuz!

Today is my cousin, Julia's 13th Birthday, she is finally a teenager! Exciting to her - frightening to the rest of us who then realize just how old we are now!
Although my daughter and Julia are second cousin's, because of the age gap between myself and Julia, they are growing up more like first cousin's and my daughter just adores Julia :-) And the three of us share the same middle name too! So in honour of the best girl cousin ever - I can say that cuz she is the only girl cousin! - here are two layouts of Miss Julia:

Isn't she beautiful?! Happy Birthday, Julia! And Happy Birthday to my Uncle Gord too, who is such at good sport at being overshadowed by the younger generation - even if he is still young at heart!

Happy Scrapping!

Day 7 Favourite - Canadian Eh?!

2010 was definately the year to show your Canadian Pride and our LSS and Photography studio, Photo Express honed in on that theme for their annual "Cutest Baby Contest" in February, calling for the babes to wear red and white. My daughter is now too old for the contest but this layout shows my sons 4 poses. The staff at Photo Express is so unbelievable that my son actually looks like he was having fun at this shoot! If you can read the journalling you'll know that he most definately was not! If a child can have "THE LOOK", he's mastered it - and when he wants to be grumpy he's grumpy! Thank goodness we pulled some last minute, split second smiles from him for his photo entries - and my layout of course!
And although the title may be just slightly misleading, ha, ha, it was my first time using a Cricut, whoot! whoot! One day it will be mine, but for now I am eternally grateful to my friends who let me play :-)

Happy Scrapping!

Having fun with my new computer! A Christmas album for my sister!

Ok, I am LOVING my new computer and staying up way too late "playing". Well tonight, while surfing (ooo, I sound so techy now!) thru scrapbook related websites and blogs, I came across Smilebox on Lisa Bearnson's blog via Creating Keepsakes magazine website (ride the cyber wave baby!). I remembered my sister sending me a Smilebox before and I was never able to download it all on my old putt-putt computer. Well, my little sister, Michelle, and her husband, Christian, live just outside of Toronto and weren't able to make it "home" to Vancouver for Christmas this year :-( So I made a Smilebox scrapbook of some pics to share with them - emailed it to her and lo an behold, there is a little button for me to post on my blog too! So enjoy some of my family's Christmas moments . . . and be prepared for future Smilebox creations, mwaaahaha!

Day 6 Favourtie : Birthday's Galore!

Thought I would post a birthday card I had done up for a swap at the beginning of last year. I really liked the way it turned out :-) My family has a Gazillion birthday's in the month of January, and I have many good friends with January birthday's too (happy birthday today to Chantelle!), so this card is very fitting! So to all you Ruby Red January birthday peeps who were always the "oldest" in the group - Happy Birthday to you!

Cheers!

Day 5 Favourite: My Monsters!

Well here is a Wacky Wednesday pick of favourites - yes, I said favouriteS again, I really am not good at sticking to the rules!
When I saw this paper by Sassafrass last fall I just HAD to have it. No idea what I was going to do with it, it was just the paper hoarder in me coming out, but I justified the purchase by noting that I DID have two little monsters at home, surely I would use the paper . . . someday! It took a year but I finally found a use for it (only some of it, have to save SOME ya know!).
This one is a different one for me, very busy, but fitting to the "busy" look of the photographed monsters! Better stuck on them then all over my house I suppose!

*** Photo removed for magazine submission ***

Now this one the pictures are not the greatest but I HAD to take them right when he was saying the phrase cuz I immediately knew it was a scrap-worthy moment! My then 2year old son was given a "for the road" snack by his Aunt of strawberries and grapes and when he tried to say strawberries and grapes it sounded like:

Happy Scrappin' :-)

Day 4 Favourite(s)

Ok, ok, so I'm breaking the rules a "zibit" as my 3 year old would say - I'm posting 4 favourite layouts from 2010 on Day 4 instead of just one! But I'll give a good reason for it, really I will! In June I was honoured to be guest designer for The Memory Workshops kit club - yay me!! - and these were some of the projects featured in the kit :-) The kit featured papers from Bo Bunny's "Flower Child" line - Gorgeous! I was so excited to work with all these beautiful products and The Memory Workshop puts together some ROCKIN' kits, check out the website www.memoryworkshop.ca to see more of their great kits and info on their monthly club :-)

Have a Happy Scrappy Day! (odd for me to be this chipper before noon . . . must be the back to school thing!)

Top 10 of 2010!

So I have seen a few people doing this and thought it was a great idea, if only to dig out some layouts I haven't looked at in a few months :-) So to catch me up to date, here are my first three favourite layouts done up in 2010:
Of course being #1 a Vancouverite and #2 a Canadian, I HAVE to start with an Olympic layout! The left hand side page was a kit I got at a crop by Cherish The Thought in Port Moody, and I loved it so much I had to buy enough to turn it into a double - thanks for the inspiration Jessie!
** BTW Jessie and her store Cherish The Thought are featured in the lastest edition of Canadian Scrapbooker on page 136 -137 - Congrats, Jessie!

Sticking with some Canadian pride:

And this layout is one of my all time favs I think, for both the story and the page. My daughter was playing on a play structure in her grandparents backyard, and she was being a daredevil, despite the many warnings from Grandma and Grandpa, and she ended up falling, biting her tongue and putting a big hole in it! Amazingly she did not cry for long at all (Grandma has that affect on her, always makes her laugh it off!) and it soon turned into a goofy photo shoot with a good excuse to stick out her tongue at everyone!
Oh, and I "stole" this layout idea from Photo Express, another LSS :-)

Now to start looking for layout favourite's #4 thru 10, this will be fun!

Happy New Year!

Well 2011 is starting off fantabulously for me so far - a new computer that works! Now I can actually post and share regularly here, yay!
So aside from not having a good enough computer until now, I did take some time off from Paper Candie and CTMH, but I am back and ready with a TON of new stuff! Close To My Hearts new Spring/Summer 2011 Idea Book is here for one - the first of their new bi-annual catalogue style, with more pages and more paper packs, 8 to be exact! And the promotion for January - "Inspirations" - lets everyone get a taste of the new products at a discounted price! All links and info will be posted within the next day.
I am also planning an Open House for both CTMH and Paper Candie Designs - I have a Ton of pre-done paper crafts to sell and lots more ideas for custom work :-) More details to follow within the week :-)
Lastly, the Christmas workshop that I had scheduled with CTMH's Mistletoe paper will be re-scheduled for this month; here are the photos of the layout and how it opens up just like a present to reveal even more photos! I got 24 photos on this layout! The layout is called "Abracadabra" and is from the Magic how-to book (9034 $33.50).
