CTMH Scrapbook Challenge 109

I got good and inky today! It has been awhile since I did much stamping and since I've blown the dust of my stamps and inks lately it's been so much fun :-)
I have also been cruzin' the CTMH consultant artwork site lately too, as I prepare to get back into hosting clubs and workshops again, and I stumbled upon the Scrapbook Challenges. This is a weekly challenge to consultants to use a sketch from one of CTMH's How-To books. It is so great to see the same sketch done in so many different ways, and with different supplies, etc. Unfortunately the challenge host, Helen, has been battling with some health issues of late and has not been able to keep up with posting the challenges, BUT the wonderful Carol has volunteered to take over till Helen's return - yay, Carol!!
This week's challenge is to use the sketch "Mystify" from Magic (pg.36 if you've got the book . . . . item #9034 if you don't!!). Here is my take:

I used some retired papers here, still trying to use up some stash (neverending task, just like organizing!); "You Rock" and "Stardust". The chipboard was inked with Dutch Blue ink, and I made the flower with my new Martha Stewart scoring tablet :-)

Now time to clean up my mess and get ready for my garage sale tomorrow! Will have more photos to scrap after that too, as the kids are setting up a Kool-Aid stand!!

Happy Scrappin'!

Page Maps Sketch from Let's Scrap!

This month over at Let's Scrap, they are hosting a month long contest using a Page Maps sketch by the uber-talented, Becky Fleck! The prize is a whole TON o' goodies from Enmarc, and I just HAD to throw my hat in the ring for this one! If you're interested head on over to www.letsscrap.ning.com and check it out, you still have time to get in your submission before Aug.31st!!

Here is the sketch:

My first take on this great sketch is my DD in her Angel costume last Halloween. I just loved the dark blue velvet on the front of the dress and wanted to play off of that, plus I had picked up the title ages ago!

Well, what scrapbooker doesn't have a HUGE stash of pretty flowers?! I have an overflowing bin of them (and this does not stop me from buying more!) so it was great to put some to use here on this layout. I've used a mix of flowers from different companies too, but I really love all the blue's together - doesn't it look heavenly?!

This title I got from Michael's on clearance awhile back. I knew I would use it for these halloween photos as soon as I saw it. The Thickers are "Glass Slippers" and I thought that totally fitting as well :-)

Awhile back I had this obsession with journalling tags/blocks/spots, you name it - if you could journal on it and plunk it down onto a page I bought it! Now, if you knew how many journalling stamp sets I owned, you'd really wonder why I had to buy ANY journalling tags! Anyhow, here I finally used ONE of my many MME journalling tags, "Once Upon A Time":

I enjoyed this sketch so much I did two layouts back to back last night! Here is the second one:

Probably my favourite part of this entire layotu is the title - I LOVE these corrogated cardboard letters by Jillybean Soup!! I have been afraid to use them cuz I like them so much - typical scrapper thing to do, hey?!

Part of my undertaking with these layouts was to use up some of my CTMH stash - the big one of course being the felt circle, but also these My Stickease that match the pattern paper, Twitterpated. I loved the mushrooms and bunnies and thought they depicted the overall cuteness of my two babies on ponies :-)
Also, I put a circle sticker over the one ponies behind because it had a heart shaved into it! My DD loved that!

And I finally put my Sew Easy tool to some use here as well! Going to have to add to my colour selection of thread now, this was a fun tool to play with :-)

Thank you for dropping by my scrap happy site!
Happy Scrappin'!

A Challenge and a Sketch

This week's Design Team challenge was hosted by Kathy and she challenged us to use transparencies on our layouts, and secure them with LOTS of eyelets! Well, I am not an eyelet gal, I found I only had three basic colours to choose from - silver, black, and white - but I had A LOT of transparencies so I was up for the challenge!

I used two identical 12"x12" transparencies by Best Creations and layered them over Honey coloured cardstock by Close To My Heart. I added some white acrylic paint along the outside edges of the layout as well, and hammered down eyelets wherever I could!!

Always fun to get your hands alittle dirty, and what better way than by adding some acrylic paint to your layout?! Here I added it along the outside of my title piece to help make it stand out more against such a busy background. Oh, and more eyelets!

I think I definately made the quota for eyelets here! This is my favourite photo of Derek now too - he just looks so cool, doesn't he?!

This is the third Weds. of the month so over at Let's Scrap that means it's time for a card sketch by the talented Miss Debby!

I've been known to turn the card sketches into a layout, but since I have a few Thank You cards I needed to make, this was a great sketch to get me started! Here is my take, using all CTMH products:

Gettin' My Scrap On . . . again!

Whoo hoo!!! I'm so excited to announce that I made the Design Team for Let's Scrap again! I was away on holidays for the last two weeks, so am a little behind with this announcement - already into the second week of my second term! but I'm still super excited and had to share :-) If you are not already a member of this fantastic site . . . SIGN UP now! You'll love it, the sketches are da' bomb, and the inspiration from all the talented peeps is off da' hook! (my apologies, folks, too much SYTYCD tonight!). www.letsscrap.ning.com - go there now, just sayin'.

This first sketch was the Design Team application:

Another great sketch for some coveted bathtub pix of my kiddies! Love that "Snorkel" line from Cosmo Cricket, just too cute!

Week Two, the talented Miss Cheri blows my mind again with this FUN number:

Since I am still working to finish my 2008 Disney trip album, I instantly thought of these photos for this sketch:

added a little sticker fun to the subtitle quote, and made some "grass" to highlight the backyard aspect - one of my favourite 3D looks to add to cards or layouts cuz it's super simple, just a strip of green cardstock and snip, snip, snip along one side, then crumple or curl the ends, viola!

always great to use up some alphabets from misc. sets :-)

another super simple technique to add some dimension to cardstock is the direct to paper inking. Here I took my Cranberry ink pad and laid it on my Cranberry cardstock and just rubbed around and around till the CS was covered. *hint, if you crumple your CS first then you can get a nice leathery look!

Happy Scrappin'!
