Loon Lake October Workshops

8 more sleeps till Halloween!! Whoo hoo! My kids are so excited about their costumes this year - ok, so they are excited every year, but it's me who is so excited to NOT be shopping for them last minute! I almost alway wait till the week before but this year I had their costumes at the end of September and I tell you, it feels great to be prepared :-) Now to find the perfect scrappy supplies for the layout of their costumes!

This weekend I got to spend some time at Loon Lake again with the ladies of The Ultimate Retreat, and we did a layout workshop AND a Christmas card workshop! So first off, check out the workshops we did below, and then check out The Ultimate Scrapbook Retreat, it's amazing!

And here is the Christmas card workshop, a set of 8 cards, 2 each of 4 designs. I used Close To My Heart's "Mistletoe" paper, the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, "Holiday Magic" stamp set (October's stamp of the month!), and "Holiday Cheer" stamp set:

The third Wednesday of the month means it's time for a card sketch by the Dynamic Debby! Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch using Close To My Heart's "Typeset" paper and the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (number strip). I also used the "You Rock" stamp set to get the cool messy "splashes"!

My Scrapbooking Adventure!

Wow! I just had the most amazing time at a scrapbooking retreat this weekend! I attended Scrapbooking Adventures 5th Anniversary celebration in Parksville, BC, held at The Beach Club Resort. First of all, I will definately return to that resort, such amazing service all weekend, comfy cozy rooms, and the beach . . . well just breathtaking even in October! Just see for yourself:

I'm already looking forward to staying here again next year!

Now for the scrapbooking . . . well let me tell you, this is not for the faint of heart! Jennifer Edwardson of Scrapbooking Adventures has designed a "Scrap Your Stash" 20 page workshop - that I will lovingly refer to as Scrapbook Bootcamp! She sends you homework to put together kits for these 20 pages . . . simple enough . . . then tells you it is a fast paced workshop from 9am till 8pm . . . ok, I've got my comfy jammies on, my BC Crop for Kids tumbler full of Pepsi, and my bag of mint Aeros, I'm ready . . . WHOA!!! She was not kidding when she said fast paced, the girl is a machine!! I think I blinked once and missed a whole layout! Okay, okay, all kidding aside, it was an amazing workshop, and actually the second time I have willingly sweated thru this bootcamp! Jennifer is such an amazingly talented scrapbooker and teacher, so if you ever have the chance to visit her store in Parksville be sure to introduce yourself! Oh, and be sure to check out her blog too http://3dfoamandasandingblock.blogspot.com
Now to reveal some of my completed works from this creativity-kicking bootcamp:

**If you're reading this, Jennifer, I thru that double pager in there just for you!

Catch Up!!

Wow, I'm a bit behind on posting these days! Been a busy few weeks, what can I say. But I'd love to show you what I've been up too, just prepare for a loooonnnnng post!

Last weekend was BC Crop for Kids retreat in Abbotsford. I have attended this event in the past, but this year I was honoured to take part as both a sponsor and a teacher - what FUN!!! On the Friday night I set up a table with my Paper Candie Designs and a make n' take and was overwhelmed with the great response to my product and the many new friends I made! I am already looking forward to next year!

Then on the Sunday (I had to take the Saturday off for my little man's 4th birthday!)I was thrilled to teach a layout workshop sponsored by Bryan at Paper Nation Stationery and Craft Company. Using treeless paper imported from India, here are the two double page layouts we made:

There were a few of these workshop kits still available too, so if you are interested, contact Bryan for workshop dates!!

The theme for this year's event was Through the Decades. There was a costume contest on Saturday night (that I'm truly bummed I missed seeing!!), where attendees were invited to dress up in the era of their choice, ie. 50',70's, 80's. I designed this page kit to go along with this theme of the weekend, entitled "Celebrate Moments in Time". The kit could be used with photos take that weekend or with any photos you chose!

Paper line used was Echo Park's "For the Record". Full colour instructions included in the kit.

I have 5 kits still available for $15/each. 10% of proceeds will still go to BC Crop for Kids! If you are interested in an individual kit or a workshop for all 5, please contact me at papercandiedesigns@gmail.com.

This was my make n' take item. 35 wonderfully talented ladies joined me on the Friday night to make this 2.5"x3.5" altered photo frame, and it was a TON of fun!! The make n' take was by donation and THANKS to all who contributed towards the final tally of $90 :-)

Lastly, an item I was particularly proud of, this 12"x12" canvas I made for the BC Crop for Kids Silent Auction. It sold for $45 :-)

Happy Scrappin'!!
