Insta Love!

So my scrappy Mojo has taken a bit of a walk it appears :-/ but on Father's Day I had some iPhone photo fun!!  Thought I'd share - mainly because it's so rare to get a good pic of me with the kids and I really love these ones!  Hope my scrappy Mojo comes back to scrap them!

On the day before Father's Day we headed to West Edmonton Mall for some family fun.  We first hit the arcade - which wasn't the initial plan but when we saw this giant Connect 4 game we just HAD to stop!!  Lots o' fun!  Kids played one game and got a ton of tickets, then Mom and Dad went head to head on an intense game of Air Hockey - where Mom lost by one point - Nuts!!

Then on Father's Day we took Daddy to The Keg  for dinner :-)  Was super yummy! Tyler actually strayed from his standard Chicken fingers and fries and got the mini burgers, and my true Alberta girl got her steak!  This girl has been able to polish off an 8oz steak since she was 2.5 years old, it always amazes the servers!
Dad got to enjoy his steak that if Mom had cooked it would have been burnt!  Hey, he's the chef, not me!!  And I got to gross out the kids by eating Escargot :-)  Yum!!

Lastly, the gift!  Now my hubby has got to be one of the hardest people to buy for!  I always do my best, but usually end up just "settling" on something just so I have a gift to give him then give him the receipt to get what he wants!  But this year I finally felt proud of the gift we picked out for him - and I kept it in budget too!!  (New golf clubs were NOT in the budget, honey, sorry!).  The kids and I picked out a bunch of BBQ items such as a smoker with Mesquite wood chips, skewers, Budweiser BBQ sauce, Kickin' Chicken spice, and burger baskets for eating on the patio.  Can't wait for Chef Daddy to fire up the BBQ this summer and spoil the rest of us with HIS gift ;-)  tee hee!!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be back tomorrow with a new Let's Scrap card sketch and my Baby Boy card from this sketch!

Happy Scrappin'!

Oh Silly Me, and Last of My NSD

Oh silly me!!!  For weeks now I've been trying to figure out why not all the blogs that I follow were showing up in my sidebar . . . yup, not so tech savy me, forgot I had to ADD them in to the list!!!  Soooo now I have done that and can start making some regular comments on all these wonderful blogs that inspire me!!!  I swear I will finally get the hang of all this blog stuff just when something else will come along and start me from the beginning again!

Moving on . . . it appears my Mojo took a walk this past week or so, and I did not end up getting many more NSD challenges done over at Let's Scrap - boo!  But I did get this one done that I LOVED playing along with!!
Erica created a sketch and an inspirational quote for us to work with.  Here is the sketch and then what I came up with:

The part of the quote that I took inspiration from was "to be as good as my dog thinks I am".  From that I found another quote "Pawprints on my heart" and knew I had to use that with this photo of my beautiful girl, Sydney :-)

One of the requirements was to include flowers and at least one of them handmade.  I saw a tutorial on Pinterest for washi tape flowers and had to give that a try :-)  Grabbed my blue polka dot Glitz Design washi and went to work!  Quite happy with how it turned out and blends well with the flet Basic Grey flowers.

Lastly, I just purchased these chipboard frames from M's last week and was happy to use one here!

The best part of this year's NSD challenges at Let's Scrap was that so many of them challenged me to go beyond my comfort zone, and try new style's and techniques - LOVE it!!
Can't wait till next year!

Happy Scrappin'!!

This Week's Let's Scrap Sketch and more!

Wednesday means a new sketch at Let's Scrap!!  Here is this week's sketch by the talented Michelle!

Here is what I came up with using Simple Stories "Life Documented" and "Year-o-graphy" lines:

I added some Doodlebug yellow washi tape, and using some 4x4 Flip Flap Memory Protectors from CTMH (LOVE these things!!!) I added a mini album with two more photos under the tree photo.

Since I missed posting the last few Let's Scrap sketches, here is a quick catch up!
Again I used Simple Stories - I have a TON of both "Year-o-graphy" and "Life Documented"!!  But love them both :-)

And lastly, a card sketch :-)

I did two cards based on this sketch:

That's it, that's all, folks!!  Until next time . . .

Scrappy Catch Up!!

Whew!  All kids activities are done and over for the summer now, just a few weeks of school to go and then we can relax!!  So looking forward to it, the only down side will be that hubby won't get to relax until the fall - the joys of working in restaurant, summer is BUSY!!!

So first off, I'd like to share an update on my last post.  The kids all met at ATB Financial on Saturday morning to deposit the final amount of their fundraising efforts and all of those who joined in and lumped their fundraising funds in with the kids.  They deposited over $8200 and there is $300 in GC's to be given too!!!!

So super proud of these kids and EVERYONE in the community that helped out!!!  Looking forward to our community BBQ this Saturday to raise some more!!

Ok, now WHAT have I been up to in my craft room???  Well, it was National Scrapbooking Month in May, as you well know, and Let's Scrap hosted 36 Challenges and games throughout the month!!!  Now I could not possibly have done them all - though I sure would have liked to!  But I did get a handful done and I'd like to share them with you :-)  Just brace yourself, this is gonna be a long post!!

First layout I did for Design Team member, Tiffany's challenge 160 - so not for NSD, but I still wanted to do it :-)  The challenge was to use colour and B&W photos, and flowers (I think I remembered that correctly!). I had just dug out and unpacked my box of wedding albums and photos, and decided I was going to re-scrap some of my wedding pics - easy to do since most of my pics were in triplicate!!!

NSD Challenge #2 was a sketch by DT member Michelle - designed to be a 12 ages or stages layout.  I did 12 photos from 1997 - all moments that "changed everything"!!
Here is the sketch:

Here is my version:

Then I got to present a challenge as well - Challenge #4 - Bringing Back the Oldies!!  I challenged the members to create a layout taking inspiration from an "oldie" layout they'd done.
Here is the layout I took my inspiration from:

I was inspired to update the multiple photos; border stickers; lots of stickers, and decorative scissors.  Here is what I came up with:

Instead of border stickers I used Washi tape; I still used lots of stickers, but clumped them in a more cohesive pattern.  I also "doodled" on my page too with some faux stitching.  A little bit of bling with some blue gems, instead of the shiny stickers!  And condensed my journalling!

Challenge #20 was to put the scrap back into scrapbooking, and use at least 5 scrap pieces of paper.  I pulled out some more of the wedding photos and my Bella Blvd. scraps:

Challenge #5 was a sketch by DT member, Karen, and we were to scrap a photo of ourselves and journal about why we scrapbook.  Here is the sketch:

 And my version:

Hang in there, we are almost done for today!!

Last layout is for Challenge #8.  Here we had to create a layout with only cardstock!  Starting with a non-white cardstock base we had to build with only inks, stamps, paint, mist, masks, templates, ribbon, twine, or jute only!  What a fun challenge this was and I was happier with my layout in the end then I thought I would be :-)  Was so nice to pull out my stamps again and get inky!!

Whew!!  That is it for today!!!  There are still some challenges happening over at Let's Scrap that are due June 7th, so I'll have some more to post :-)

Thanks for visiting and be sure to leave some love so I know you were here!!

Happy Scrappin'!

ANDIE :-)
