Welcome Wall Hanging and Paper Flower Tutorial

I don't often do home decor with paper crafts, but when I saw this wooden wall hanging by Adorn It arrive in the store I KNEW I had to do a class with it!  Well this past Friday was the class, and this is what we all created:

We used Bo Bunny's Somewhere In Time paper, I just love the blues, browns and gold tones together!

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who joined me for this class, it was a real blast crafting with you!!  You are all super talented :-)

One of the flowers we used to decorate this wall hanging is a handmade one, and my favourite to make.  Here is a quick little photo tutorial on how to make them:

Choose two to three different sized circle or scallop circle punches.

Using your pattern paper scraps punch two or three different sized circles - all the same pattern or different, does not matter.

Mist the three circles with a bit of water so they are damp but not wet.

The water makes the paper more malleable, and you are going to crumple each circle, separately, into a ball.

Then flatten them out.

Stack them as desired, pierce a hole in the center and secure with a brad.

Lift and crumple each separate layer into the center . . .

so you end up with a "bud" like so . . .

then carefully pull down each layer and shape as desired.

Ink up the edges for a distressed, more dimensional look.

As the paper dries the flower hardens and keeps it's shape.

Ta da!  That's it, easy, peasey!

Happy Craftin'!!

Scrap-A-Pack Doubles! Multi-Layout Class at Scrap Addicts with Simple Stories Hello Summer.

Last weekend I did another multi-layout class at Scrap Addicts, and it was another great day of scrapping!  This class is a big hit because it allows each scrapper to choose their own papers to work with.  I love seeing how different each layout looks just with different papers - very inspiring!  Looks like this will be a regular class at Scrap Addicts too, so if you are local be sure to join us!

Last Scrap-A-Pack class was 10 single layouts using 10 random sketches I liked off Pinterest.  This time we did five double page layouts using Scrapbook Generations Sketches for Scrapbooking Volume 6&8.  Each book has 30 double page sketches in it - love these books!  Check out Scrap Addicts online store to get a copy.
I used Simple Stories "Hello Summer" collection for my pages - LOVE the bright colours and woodgrain mix!  Here are my layouts:

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the last bit of summer and make some great memories!

August 2014 Sketchy Challenge!

Just finished the Canadian Scrapbookers August 2014 Sketchy Challenge and thought I would share.  I used all Bella Blvd. product except the enamel dots are by Doodlebug Designs.  Love the Max collection for my little man :-)

I used my white Signo gel pen to outline a few of the words on the pattern paper, really made the background pattern pop I think!

Thanks for stopping by, and if you'd like to get in on the sketchy fun at Canadian Scrapbooker click HERE!
