Dazzle - The Elf on The Shelf Arrives!

Yay!  It's December 1st - I can officially start all things Christmas now!  My daughter's birthday is Nov.29, so when she was born I made the decision to not decorate for Christmas until after her birthday celebrations were over - I wanted to keep her birthday separate from Christmas and special to her - just as we do not decorate for Halloween until after my son's October birthday.  So December 1st is usually the first day I get to start pulling out Christmas stuff and decorating.  I had the Christmas music on this morning, and I'm about to start re-arranging furniture so the tree can go up tonight (though do not expect it to be decorated for days!).
What December also means is Elf on The Shelf will arrive!  Two years ago our family's new addition arrived one morning, to the extreme delight of my kids!  Grandma and Grandpa were the ones that decided we needed an elf and shipped one out to us - well, to me, the kids had no idea of course!  The parcel was delayed so the Elf did not appear until Dec.6th.  The following year sometime in the first week of December as well.  I have seen that most elves tend to appear just after Thanksgiving, or on Dec.1st.  Our elf has no set arrival - this way it keeps the kids guessing! ;-)

My kids were so excited to finally have their own elf (my son's class had an elf and many of their friends, so they knew all about it before Mommy even did!).
We sat down to eat our popcorn treat (stale popcorn for breakfast, don't judge!), and read the Elf on the Shelf story.  Have to cover those rules quickly or you know one of the kids will touch the elf, lol!  Then the kids picked a name for our little spy, I mean elf - Dazzle.  Quite fitting I suppose, as he was soon to "dazzle" us each morning with his quirky mischief!

Day Two:

Day Three:  Mini donuts made from Cheerios!  Still one of my kids favourites to this day.

Day Four:

Day Five:

Day Six:

Day Seven:

Day Eight:

This was a colouring page my daughter had made for Dazzle :-)

Day Nine:  The mess was worth the reaction.  And I'm surprised how easily the flour came off the elf!

Day Ten:  Ha Ha Ha!  That will teach them for not putting away their laundry!

So, admittedly, by now I am really having fun with this elf!  It does get harder to hold on to the magic of Christmas as your children get older (and yourself I suppose!), so Dazzle was a great addition this year for sure.

Stay tuned for more Elf mischief from 2013, 2014, and then this year!

Merry Christmas!

ANDIE :-)
