Bring on the New Year!

Wow! Where, oh where did 2011 go??! What a year it was too, full of ups and downs as usual, but my memories are definately of the ups - fabulous new friends, great new business opportunities/adventures, and the most amazing summer vacation in years! I know that 2012 has nothing but greatness in store for us all and I say "Bring it on!"

Resolutions? Well of course! I recently saw a quote on Facebook (can't find it now to properly acknowledge though!), and it spoke of New Year's Day being everyone's birthday . . . well for my birthday I'd like a new body please! Tee hee! Well this is definately not a new resolution for me, but what is new is being more accountable to it. So I hope you won't mind seeing my weight loss updates posted here in the coming months :-) I have a stair climb fundraiser in February for the BC Lung Association, that I am doing in support of my daughter and her asthma, and if I don't start training ASAP I'm not gonna make it up one flight of stairs let alone 48!

For scrapbooking my resolutions are 1) to complete the LOAD challenge I signed up for for January (via Let's Scrap) 2) to get at least one piece published 3) apply for at least one manufacturer Design Team 4) get my Ebay account going for Paper Candie Designs 5) host more workshops 6) Have Fun!!! Oh, and blog more!!!

So with that, my last post of 2011 introduces my first layouts for my January Clubs and Workshops:

Close To My Heart's "Wonderland" paper line and co-ordinating embellishments.

So to you and yours, all the very best in 2012, may it be your best year yet!

Merry Mojo Missing

I am far from saying "Bah-humbug", I really do love Christmas, but I just cannot seem to find my Merry Mojo right now! This is the longest it has ever taken me to decorate my house and tree, sure hope I find my mojo this weekend!

On the upside though, I did finally get my Christmas cards, letters, and photos done and mailed out yestarday. Maybe that is why my Mojo's missing, after making a what felt like a gazilion cards!

A gazillion cards or not, if felt real good to have them done and sent! I missed sending out cards last year so had some serious catching up to do :-)

I finished up my second term on the Design Team at Let's Scrap at the end of November. It was alot of fun but time for a break. Apparently now I need to find my scrappy mojo too, as I'm now behind two sketches! This was the last layout I did for Let's Scrap, and the sketch that went with it. Hopefully after a nap or two this weekend I'll have some more to share with you :-)

Happy 7th Birthday, Princess!

Today is a super special day here . . . 7 years ago today I became a Mom for the first time! My beautiful baby girl, Jessica arrived by c-section, one week late, and has forever blessed my life with her sparkling brown eyes and can't-help-but-smile-back grin! Happy 7th Birthday, Miss Jess, love you to the moon and back times infinity!!!

Jessica is "sooooo big" at her 1st Birthday, and lookin' sweet in her pretty party dress!

Always the Princess!

seriously . . . how do you not smile when you see this face?!

and here she is at her party this weekend - yep, Chuck E. Cheese!!

And catching up on this last week's sketch over at Let's Scrap - here is the sketch from Wednesday:

I just loved all the cirles elements in the sketch so I had to stick pretty close to it! Here is my DD and DS playing with some pop beads and making themselves "pretty" :-)

and just a couple more layouts I finished recently, featuring my beautiful little birthday girl :-)

Snow Beautiful

We are finally getting a bit of snow here (yes, I'm an odd duck, I like the snow!) - and there is nothing more beautiful and serene as a fresh snowfall . . . except maybe my beautiful, four legged Princess laying in it :-)

Cherish The Day!

I have spent my day catching up on some cards that I'll be needing this month for some special occaisions. Two of these cards I used the November Stamp of the Month, "Cherish the Day", from Close To My Heart and I just LOVE the versatility of this set!

Check out some artwork by CTMH:

and a look at the whole set, which you can get for only $5.50 after purchasing $55 in CTMH products - great deal!!

and here are the cards that I did:
(Michelle, don't show this to Christian, it's his card!)

(Mom, close your eyes, this is your card!!)

and just thought I'd throw this one in too - I used the stamp set to create my own pattern paper on the Sunset cardstock, and then stamped it in black next to the one photo block as well, adding in the number 31 for Halloween.

My Happy Pre-Schooler!

Hello Scrappers!! I'm feeling a little smiley today :-) Not only is my cold finally starting to clear up a bit, but we got some much needed sunshine today! Fingers crossed we start the long weekend off with more of the same tomorrow!

Yestarday, being Wednesday, was a new sketch at Let's Scrap, and boy was this one FUN to work with! Head on over to http://www.letsscrap.ning.com to check out all the other DT's layouts, they are just fantastic this week!

Here is the sketch:

I stuck fairly close to the sketch, just added in a few smaller photos rather than the one large one:

This was also my very first time using Graphic 45 paper. I always admire their paper lines when I visit the scrap stores, but it's just not really my "style", so admiring is all I've ever done. But when I saw this school days one with all the little stamp blocks, well I just knew it would be perfect for this week's sketch! Sure glad I had photos to go with it too!

I got two sheets of the pattern paper; cut one into strips to place between the photos, and then cut the other one up into all the little stamp blocks and randomly pop dotted some all over the page to add some dimension to a somewhat busy page. I had fun doing this too! Very happy with how this turned out . . . almost as happy as my new little pre-schooler!!!

Have a wonderful long weekend,
Always Remember,
and

Christmas Explosion Box

A few months back there was a Design Team Challange on Let's Scrap to make an Explosion box. Well I gave this a try and REALLY liked it!! Immediately started thinking Christmas with it too. So when it came time to plan a workshop for a Christmas Retreat, well it was a no brainer! tee hee!

This is the Christmas Explosion box I came up with using Close To My Heart's "Believe" Level 2 paper pack and Stickease (X7145b&c), and some blue and green sparkles (Z1327):

Now to make a few more for some Christmas gifts, me thinks!

November Hostess Club Layouts & Bonus

Two posts back-to-back, I'm amazing even myself today ;-)

Here are the layouts that my CTMH Hostess Club gals will be doing this month. We're using the "Mischeif" Level 2 Paper Pack (X7144B) and Compliments Rub-Ons (X7144C). I loved this rub-ons, they were sooooo easy to use, way to go CTMH!

Happy Camper?!

So it looks as though I've been slacking off in my posts lately! Well I haven't really, it's that my household has been a bit plagued with sickness these past couple of weeks. My poor daughter has pnuemonia and has been home from school all week, and at this point we are all suffering from cabin fever!! Please lord, let her be healthy enough for school on Monday! Her and I are at the moment cherishing some peace and quiet "alone time" while her little brother is at pre-school :-)

The upside to being quarantined is that I've gotten a fair amount of scrapping done. Thought I would start with the current Let's Scrap sketch though, while I get the rest ready to be posted.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it, using mostly American Crafts "Campy Trails". This was my family's annual camping trip this summer. We try to book a site nearby and find at least one day/night that all of us can make it. Always good laughs around that campfire :-)

Loon Lake October Workshops

8 more sleeps till Halloween!! Whoo hoo! My kids are so excited about their costumes this year - ok, so they are excited every year, but it's me who is so excited to NOT be shopping for them last minute! I almost alway wait till the week before but this year I had their costumes at the end of September and I tell you, it feels great to be prepared :-) Now to find the perfect scrappy supplies for the layout of their costumes!

This weekend I got to spend some time at Loon Lake again with the ladies of The Ultimate Retreat, and we did a layout workshop AND a Christmas card workshop! So first off, check out the workshops we did below, and then check out The Ultimate Scrapbook Retreat, it's amazing!

And here is the Christmas card workshop, a set of 8 cards, 2 each of 4 designs. I used Close To My Heart's "Mistletoe" paper, the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, "Holiday Magic" stamp set (October's stamp of the month!), and "Holiday Cheer" stamp set:
