Born to Believe, Baby!

Whoo hoo!!! Exactly 17 years to the day, again in game 5 and in double overtime, Canucks are headed to the Stanley Cup Playoffs!!! This city is a buzzin' tonight, I even woke up my sleepin' kids with my excited cheering! So to celebrate a little more quietly, but still just as exhuberantly, here are some of my favourite photos of my kidlets, who were truly born to believe!

My baby girl in her first Canucks hat (actually she has on Canucks shoes and shirt too, you just can't see it!), only 5 days old :-)

and last but not least, my baby boy in his first Canucks hat, only two days old :-)

Strawberry Sneak!

I do not often scrapbook single photos, let alone photos without people in them - but I decided to come outside my box a bit . . . and besides, this was just too funny NOT to scrap!
I washed off some strawberries and left them sitting in the sink to dry; they were to be a snack for the kids when my daughter was home from school. Well just before leaving to pick up my daughter, I walked past the sink and noticed that the strawberries ALL had tiny bites in them! I asked my 3yr. old son why he did this, and he said "I thought it would make you laugh, but I think it didn't." Now how do you NOT laugh at that!

Hope you are having a wonderful long weekend,
Happy Scrappin'!

Just a Pop of Blue, and My Favourite Photo

Waaaaaaayyy back in 1997, at the age of 19, I moved out on my own. Now I didn't do this by going to college close to home, or finding an apartment close to home with some friends . . . nope, I left Toronto and headed to Vancouver! Now, I am extremely fortunate to have all my extended family here and they help immensely when the homesickness set in. What helped the most though, was my weekly Wednesday date with my little cousin, Derek. Only 2 at the time, he and I would spend the day hangin' out, usually at the park or the creek throwing rocks :-) One of these Wednesdays I brought my camera, loaded with b&w film (y'all remember back when there was film you had to load into your camera? and we only had 24 pictures to take at a time?! AND b&w had to be mailed away for developing?!!), and I snapped pics of Derek all day long. Well one of my all time favourite photos to this day came out of this photo session. Just walking down an alley on our way to get ice cream (yes, I was his favouritest big cousin!), I asked him to turn around and smile . . . and he gave me the goofiest grin ever! Love it! Well, over at Let's Scrap (http://letsscrap.ning.com) Ana Peralta posted a National Scrapbooking Day Challenge (#6) where she asked you to use only B&W paper and photos, and add just a touch of one colour. I was nervous using my favourite photo, esp. since I do not have the negative, AND, yes really, I did not scan it before hand! BUT this is what I came up with and I am really happy with it :-)

And since I had a "few" more b&w shots of this cutie pie, I turned it into a double page layout:

I had alot of fun with this challenge, and the walk down memory lane (my "little" cousin is now 15!) - so thank you, Ana for the wonderful challenge! And if you are looking for some great challenges and inspiration, head on over to Let's Scrap and check it out . . . even better, sign up, we are soooooo close to 3000 members!

Here they are! I finally got my You & Me kit from Close To My Heart put together and photographed, then Blogger goes down for a day and I can't post, ah! But all is up and running now and here they are! The first two layouts are what CTMH includes a full colour instruction brochure for, and the last two are what I came up with for the scraps - WHICH are due to some creative cutting with the instruction brochure! All I added was the base pages and some Creme Brulee cardstock for the "boys" page and Blush cardstock for the "girls" page.

During May, when you place a minimum order of $55 CAN for any Close To My Heart products, you can grab an exclusive You & Me scrapbooking kit for just $16.50 —that’s more than half off the retail value of the kit! Woo-hoo!

You can also purchase the kit outright from CTMH for $38.95 (plus shipping and tax) with or without a minimum purchase, or from me for an even $40 if you live nearby!!!

It’s a charming kit you are sure to love, with a D-sized stamp set included!!

If you are interested in purchasing this kit, and/or attending the FREE workshop on May 25th please email me at papercandiedesigns@gmail.com

Wednesday's are Sketchy . . .

So I am a touch late on this, but it is Wednesday and that means a new sketch gets posted on Let's Scrap!!! Here is this weeks sketch by the oh so very talented Cheri O'Neill:

And here is what I came up with - it was so much fun!!!

My goofy kids! For this layout I used Close To My Heart cardstock and brads, patterned paper from Dream Street, and stickers from Sassafrass (love that goggled monster!).

Check out http://letsscrap.ning.com for more talented takes on this sketch, and, of course, more sketches!!!

Scrapbooking Life's Challenges

I had the honour of hosting a weekly Design Team Challenge on Let's Scrap - running Friday, May 6th to Thurs. May 12th - and this is the challenge I posed:
Scrapbook Life's Challenges.
We are all good at scrapping the happy times; birthdays, weddings, births, vacations, etc., but do you ever scrap about the hard times? Everything that happens to us in life shapes us as a person and as hard as it may be, we should scrap about the times that life challenges us.
The response to this challenge over on Let's Scrap has been phenomenal and I hope that these ladies continue to embrace this challenge from here on out. Scrapbooking has always been theraputic for me, this is just taking it one step further :-)
This is the example page I did for the challenge. It is about my best friend's fight with cancer when we were only 25, and how terrified I was of losing her, but how much I admire her, my hero, for the strength and courage she showed, and still shows to this day at almost 8 years cancer free :-)

Are you interested in participating in this challenge and many others for National Scrapbooling Month?? Head on over to http://letsscrap.ning.com and join us! Here is the prize package I am giving away to the winner of my challenge (Challenge 96).

Happy Scrappin'!

Scrap Happy I Am!

Well my term as a Design Team member over at Let's Scrap (http://letsscrap.ning.com) started two days ago and I'm lovin' it! Not only is the talent of these fellow scrappers just phenomenal, but everyone is so genuinely friendly you feel right at home! As you can see, I HIGHLY recommend you head on over and check it out - better yet, sign up!
My favourite part is that their sketches are double page layouts. So many of the sketches out there are geared more towards single pages, all well and fine, but I'm a double girl myself :-) Let's Scrap puts out a new sketch each Wednesday, and on the third Weds. of the month they do a card sketch, WHICH can also be converted to a layout if you want, you can interpret the sketches as you choose!

So I will share a few more of my Let's Scrap sketches with you and be sure to let me know if you sign up and I'll "Friend" you!

This was my take on the Design Team submission layout - with will also be the sketch for tomorrow:

I added a Close To My Heart FLIP FLAP Memory Protector(Z4114 $4.50 for 15) to make a mini album on the page (I love these flip flaps!):

This one is based off a sketch from last May (5/26/10 I believe), and I used it for last week's Design Team Challenge (posted every Friday - and I'm hosting it this Friday!). We had to scrap about a tradition, and I did our annual day at Playland with my parents :-)

Lastly, this layout is my interpretation of the current sketch:

Thanks for looking and have a Scrap Happy day !!!!
Andie :-)
