Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Just a few more hours until Santa arrives in our little part of the world!  Kids are tucked in cozy, milk and cookies are out, presents are wrapped and under the tree, and this Mom and her sweetie are enjoying a few quiet hours together before the choas of Christmas morning ensues!  I hope that all of you are enjoying the holiday moments with your loved ones as well, and treasuring the memories of those not with us.
From my home to yours, Merry Christmas and all the very best in 2013!!

Ho Ho Ho!
I'll be back scrappin' again in 2013!

These are a few of my favourite things . . .

Yikes!  Can tell it's been a crazy year around here, I have hardly posted at all, my poor neglected blog!  I promise it will be MUCH different in the New Year, so much in the stores of my mind I tell ya!

Well, just to get back into the swing of things here, just thought I'd do a catch up post of some of my favourite things of late, scrappy or not.  Hope you enjoy!

Some Close To My Heart card and layouts:

Oh my goodness, don't you just love these little toesies!!  They belong to my BFF and her little girl - this picture just makes me smile :-)

This one was a bit of a milestone for me, since I don't often get caught in front of the camera, I don't often make it onto a layout either!  But someone "stole" my camera and well, here I am!

Really enjoyed working with this American Crafts, Amy Tangerine line, so cute!

And some single page layouts that I finally completed from Jennifer Edwardson's "Use Your Own Product" Workshop . . . back in May!  Didn't think it would ever happen, but she convinced me there is a place for single layouts in scrapping :-)

Finally, I found another love/addiction . . . Instagram!!!  Oh, and Pinterest, but we'll get to that later!  Here are just a few of my favourite Instagram pics of late:

My beautiful pup, Sydney :-)

oh, and another new love - Cobbs chocolate croissants!

My Zombie Princess, Jessica - love how creepy this pic is!!

Last but not least, my sweet toothed little monster, Tyler :-)

Whew!  Kudos if you made it all the way thru that post!

Happy Holidays!

Mini album within a Mini Album!

As promised, here is how I put together the mini Flip Flap album in the "My Girl" mini album:

I used the 2"x2" Flip Flap protectors from Close To My Heart's Small Assortment (Z1747), which contains 4 each of 2"x2", 3"x3", 3"x4", and 4"x4".  So I began with a 2.25"x2.25" piece of cardstock to act as my base for the mini flip flap album (it's pictured a little larger here before I figured out to cut it down!).  Then I just started by sticking down one of the flip flaps, flush to the edges;  overlapped with the next flip flap, again staying flush to the edges, and so on till all four are stuck down.

Like so:

Bottom view:

Then I cut five 2"x2" squares of cardstock, inked the edges, and inserted them into the flip flaps, and glueing down the fifth one to the center.

Before securing to the chipboard mini album, I anchored a piece of bakers twine behind the mini flip flap album:

So that it could be folded in one flap at a time and then tied shut like so!

As my kids would say - "Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!"

The Memory Protector Flip Flaps are one of my all time favourite products by Close To My Heart, as they allow me to so simply add more photos to my layouts without cluttering them up!!  To buy yours today just go to www.andreagreen.ctmh.com and shop online 24/7 with delivery right to your door!

My Girl Mini Album - Operation Smile Silent Auction

Hello Scrappers!

Last weekend I attended a Close To My Heart Regional Celebration here in Edmonton - with my very good friend, Amanda! - and what a great experience!  I love the amazing projects we get to put together and the wealth of information we leave with - like sugar plums dancing in my head, I always leave totally psyched to boost my CTMH business!  Just one of the many reasons I so love being a CTMH consultant :-)  and so very thankful (if not totally sleep deprived!) that Amanda is too!  We live only a few hours apart now, but had alot of catching up to do :-)

Before this wonderful weekend got underway, though, I was asked to make an item for the Operation Smile silent auction.  I was extremely flattered and more than happy to participate for such a great cause.  I made a chipboard mini album using the new Clementine paper, as well as some of the new mini Flip Flap page protectors ( I LOVE these suckers!).  Of course I had to snap some photos of the finished product before auctioning it off though!

Here is the album, and I'll post later how to do the mini flip flap fold out album!

Scrap Withdrawal and Moving Sucks!

Well here I am in Edmonton, Alberta.  We moved here two weeks ago now, but my scrap stuff has been packed for AGES!!!  I visited two local scrap stores today and I am going thru serious scrap withdrawal now - time to tackle the mountain of boxes that are my scrap happy supplies!!

As you can see, I am banned to the basement in our new house . . . ok, not banned, but I'm just bummed to not have my nice, big, scraptastic craft room anymore . . . but I'll stop whining . . . one day.
I've been set up in an unfinished basement before, but didn't really decorate - any suggestions out there on how to spruce up my crafty home with a VERY thrifty budget???

Hope to be back soon with some artwork!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer :-)

Ok, probably a dumb question, but do you blog surf??  You know, sit for hours "surfing" thru blogs either for inspiration or just to kill time?  I'm sure we're all guilty of this, but my question to you is this - do you READ everything that these inspirational peeps write on their posts or do you simply scroll thru all the pretty stuff???  I confess, I do not often read the posts - should I feel guilty for this?  I LOVE the creative inspiration I get from surfing, but do not often take the time to read or comment and I guess I'm having a wave of guilt for this.  So if you are reading this and have a blog of your own a) chances are I'm following you too! and b) THANK YOU for inspiring me :-)
That being said, this is also why I try to keep what I have to say to a minimum!  In keeping with that, here are a couple layouts I just finished for Let's Scrap's International Scrapbooking Month challenges:

Here is the sketch for Challenge #17:

And here is my interpretation using Simple Stories "100 Days of Summer" line:

For the hexagons I am not lucky enough to own a hexagon punch, so I printed a template that another Let's Scrap member kindly provided, and I cut all these by hand!  Not the funnest (yes, it's a word!) job, but I'm quite happy with the end result so I'll say it was worth the effort :-)

Here is a close up of the journalling:

And once again, me having way too many photos of any given moment and afraid to throw any away, I added a memory protector Flip Flap by CTMH to add two more photos.  It really was quite the task to get all 8 kids to sit together and sit still long enough for a decent photo - thank goodness for digital!!!

Next is a layout I did for Elizna's challenge #12 - using a Let's Scrap sketch, a banner, and a Bingo card.  Again, this Simple Stories paper line was perfect for just that!

Thanks to all the fabulous scrappy peeps who helped organize the challenges this month at Let's Scrap - You Rock!!

One last layout I just had to share, based on this sketch from last week:

This is my beautiful girl, Jess, from last year's "Cutest Kid" contest - it was a country theme:

I have had this CTMH paper forever and loved it too much to toss or give away, so I'm sooooo happy I finally found a use for it!
