And speaking of their AMAZING sketches, here is this week's double page sketch:

And my take:

I used Bella Blvd Making The Team pattern papers, including the speech bubbles that I fussy cut.  Chipboard is also Bella Blvd;  Alpha letters are American Crafts Thickers, Simple Stories, and Adorn It.  Wooden stars are Studio Calico (love those bitty things!!!), twine is MME, and numbered washi tape is Prima.  Love to tell you where the chicken wire mask came from, but I've misplaced the packaging and didn't pay attention as I ripped it open so excited to finally use it!!!  I'll find it when I tidy up though . . .

Thanks for stopping by my scrappy happy place today!!

Happy Scrappin'!!

Visuals for a Vision Board to Envision Your Visions!!

A few years ago my sister told me about the Vision Board she was making.  I siad, HUH??  What's is a Vision Board??!!  And, well she explained it but truth be told I sort of tuned it out and forgot about it.  She has since shown me two more of these Vision Boards that she has made and now I am paying attention!

So what is a Vision Board?  Well, you could Google it and get many different explanations and examples, even from Oprah herself!, or do like I did and search Pinterest - but summed up, it is a way to put your goals, dreams, desires in front of you each and every day to keep you focused on achieving them.

Whether you use a board, a book, a frame, or the front of your fridge, the idea is to cut out words and or pictures of your dreams, goals, wishes and desires and stick em down, typically in a collage like manner, but whatever works for you.

The idea is to have these images and words put in front of you each and every day so you stay focused on what you want, envision it, and make it happen!

I finally created one for myself, using a white foam board from Michael's and clippings from a variety of magazines and flyers.  The scrapbooker in me had to add some embellishments of course, so there is ribbon and flowers :-)
I organized mine into sections, like home, health, love, family, etc. and right smack in the middle is "It's a New Day".  This is my favourite part, because no matter what, I'm reminded each morning that I wake that it is a new day and anything can happen :-)  Oh, right, I put my vision board on my night stand next to my side of the bed!

I have not shown the whole board here, as some of my visions are private :-)  but these little snippits give you an idea.  I have also begun a Vision Journal to further my main goal of getting healthy.  In this I add clippings, thoughts, feelings, recipes, etc. that inspire me to keep reaching for this goal of reaching a healthy weight.  For you scrappers you'll know this - I am using a SMASH book for this journal :-)

I hope you enjoyed this post and find some inspiration to create your own Vision Board and reach your goals!!!  Remember - "Reach for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars!"
And if you do create one and post it on your own blog, please let me know here as I'd love to check it out!!

Ombre! Ombre! Ariba! Ariba!! Design Team Challenge and Design Team Call

Hello Scrap Happy Peeps!!!  It's the weekend, whoo hoo!!!!  And only one more weekend after this till the kids are back to school . . . I am not going to pretend to be sad about this, I am sooooo ready for them to be back, and quite honestly, I think they are too.  We've had a nice, full summer, and I've done my best to keep them busy, but I know they just miss their friends.  So the countdown is on!!

Today was my turn at coming up with a Design Team Challenge over at Let's Scrap, and I took to good old Pinterest for inspiration!  Although I've since been told that it's now OUT of style, I really love the Ombre style and wanted to translate it into my scrapbooking.  So that is the Challenge that I presented - incorporate Ombre style into a layout or card!  Simple, but oh so many ways to interpret this so I am excited to see what everyone comes up with :-)

Here are a few pics that inspired me:

(photo credits:  View Along the Way, 365 Days of Crafts (pants), and Photo Chambre (hair))

And here is the layout and card that I came up with:

Here I used my blending pen and Lagoon and Smoothie ink to colour in the "You" and give it that Ombre "dipped" look.  I have seen many talented CTMH gals do this with this stamp set (A True Thank You M1029, $2.95) and the NEW Framework Alphabet, E1027, $29.95 that I can't wait to get my hands on - and I just love the look!  Thank You to all those talented CTMH gals :-)

If you are a Let's Scrap member I hope you will check out the challenge and play along!  And if you are not a member - what are you waiting for??!!  Come on over and join in the FUN!!!  We even have a New Design Team Call out right now!!!  Here is the sketch for the Design Team call, but you'll have to head on over to the site to get the rest of the details :-)

BUT HURRY!!!  The call ends on August 25th!!!!

Happy Scrappin'!!!

PS.  Vision board posting has been postponed but is coming SOON!!!

Summer Computer Vacation and Let's Scrap Catch Up

AH!!  Where has the summer gone?!  I took a little computer break as you may have noticed, and I gotta admit, it was nice :-)  Took the kids to Vancouver to visit family and friends and we had a wonderful time.  Got to meet my new little nephew too!!!  Was hard to say good-bye again, but we've settled back at home and are now getting ready for back to school - yikes!  September is always sooooo very busy, I have to psych myself up for it - starting NOW!  Two kids finally in full time school; hockey; dance; swimming; girl guides; and YMCA activities.  Gonna put my Mommy Van to the test :-)  Plus, I'm in search of a part time job - you know, to keep me busy ;-)

I did manage to get some scrapbooking done before I left on holidays though, for the Let's Scrap Design Team.  So let's catch up and share them today:

Sketch 7-31-13:

Initially I wanted to use Washi tape for this layout (doesn't it just scream Washi?!), but since I pre-prepped these photos and they didn't seem to fit with any of my Washi stock, I went with layering instead.  This worked out well as I used up much of my Superhero paper from CTMH!  A very busy and bold layout, but suits my busy and bold goofball of a son :-)

The superhero stickers are mainly Recollections, but I also used a couple SMASH tabs I'd had for quite awhile.

Sketch 8-7-13:

My version, which I split into two single layouts that work together - one of my DD getting makeup for her birthday, and the other of my two kids "posing" for a "nice" photo together!

The base paper for the above pages was from Sandylion - from a large stack I got from the outlet store in Toronto two years ago - it was nice to finally use it and it went really well with Bo Bunny's Surprise papers!  No "surprise" here that I like bold,, bright colours in my layouts!!

Sketch 8-14-13:

Love this sketch!!  I will use this one again for sure.  Decided to flip it to suit my photos here though:

Again I used up some old supplies (I'm on a mission!), and used Cosmo Cricket papers and quotes here.  Used the numbers down the side of the layout as embellishment - great way to use up all those extra numbers I've got from my LARGE supply of Thickers!!

And who doesn't love a good Tim Holtz Distress Inks SPLAT here and there to add some punch to your page?!!  Thought it mixed well with the sand in the photos :-)

Lastly is this week's card sketch, 8-21-13 that I got home just in time to whip together!  Thank you Bella Blvd for having such awesome product to work with in a hurry!!

Kraft cardstock is CTMH; wooden button is Prima; black gems are Queen & Co.; and twine is unknown.  Love how cheerful this card is, and that it's generic so I can send it to anyone for any reason :-)

Ok, so that's a lot to share in one post so I'll sign off for now!!  Be back soon with a post on Vision Boards though - have you heard of these??

Happy Scrappin'!!
