Kids are just about to head out Trick-or-Treating in our little part of the world.  It is incredibly windy but this will not deter them!

Here is my Optimus Prime and Vampire Queen

Love that my girl wanted to go with a scary costume again this year, I love doing her makeup for this!  Here is a close up of my Vampire Queen

I got the crown and earrings from the dollar store last night - it was a Princess pack and I took all the pastel coloured gems out and replaced them with the ruby ones, then added some red glitter glue and, of course, some blood!  Turned out great for a last minute prop if I do say so myself!

Happy Hauntings to all the little spooks out there tonight - stay safe and have fun!!

Pinterest Inspired Online Crop Weekend With The Nerds!!

This past weekend the Nerds at Scrapbook Nerd hosted an online crop with an "Inspired By Pinterest" theme.  It was a weekend full of great challenges and games and I got a lot done!  Would love to share with you here :-)

Challenge #1 - Joy posted a video tutorial to make your own paper chevrons and at first it seemed a bit intimidating but once I got started it was actually quite simple and fun!  LOVE the way it turned out:

Added some faux stitching to the edges of the paper chevrons to make them pop a bit more.

I added a little bit of silver washi tape under the title area to make it stand out a bit more and blend with the silver star on the "shield".  Very happy with how it turned out!

With this layout I doubled up on challenges (two birds, one stone!) and used the October 2013 Sketchy Challenge sketch for Canadian Scrapbooker.  Here is the sketch:

As you can see I tweaked it a bit ;-)

Challenge #2 was to paint with mists, and I ran out of time to get this one done, but will definitely try this technique!

Challenge #3 was to create a monochromatic layout and this is what I came up with:

Other than the embellishments I used only cardstock, mist and washi tape for this layout.  So love the versatility of washi tape!!  My collection is definitely growing!

Challenge #4 - Pick a Pin and do it!!  Fleur challenged us to pick one of our pins and do it!  I chose a technique that I have been wanting to try - stamping with pencil erasers!  Here is the original photo I had pinned:

And this is what I created - and it was FUN to do!!

Challenge #5 - Copy This Pin - Barb posted a layout that she had pinned on Pinterest and had wanted to copy, so she challenged us all to copy it.  Here is the layout we had to copy:

And here is what I did using Bella Blvd's Trick-Or-Treat collection (yes, again!) and my daughter's Zombie Princess pics from last Halloween:

Being that the whole theme of the crop was to be inspired by Pinterest, I decided I wanted to try another technique that I had pinned awhile back, it was a circle collection of brads as a main embellishment and looked sooooo neat!  I gave it a try and LOVE how it came out!!

Challenge #6 - You will have to tune in later this week because I used the Let's Scrap sketch that doesn't debut until tomorrow ;-)

There was also a pre-crop sketch challenge posted to the Scrapbook Nerd Facebook page earlier in the week.  Here is the sketch:

Loved it!  And here is what I came up with, getting some old photos of my son and my Dad together:

Tried some Stazon white ink right on my photo and think it's a neat look!  Kind of chalky.

Well now that was a good and long post for today!  Thank you for stopping by and don't forget to say hello in the comments so I know you were here :-)

Happy Scrappin'!

Happy Hump Day!! Card Sketch, Prize Pack, and Weekend Online Crop!!

Happy Hump Day!!!  Does anyone else envision the Telus camel commercial when they hear this?!          Tee hee!!
But another great reason to love Wednesdays is, of course, a new Let's Scrap sketch!  And it's the 3rd Weds. of the month so that means it's a card sketch.  Head on over to Let's Scrap and see what the Design Team created - both cards and layouts!!

Here is what I came up with - I had fun with this sketch :-)  Sticking to my current Bella Blvd. obsession of course!  Added some Prima flowers and gems, and a little hand stitching with CTMH's black waxy flax (retired).  I think the black cardstock and stitching helped make the card pop!

Now if you need even more reason to join the fun over at Let's Scrap this week . . . check out this week's sponsor Fancy Pants Design and their FABULOUS prize pack of Happy Go Lucky!!!!  I LOVE this collection and think I'll be making a few more cards this week to up my chances of winning this awesomeness!!!  Thanks, Fancy Pants!!!

Trick-Or-Treat, Smell My Feet! and Pumpkin Carving? Two Week's of Let's Scrap Sketches Using Bella Blvd.

Just a quick post tonight to show you this week's and last week's sketches from Let's Scrap - then I'm signing off to do some more scrapping before hubby is off for the weekend!!
Getting in the mood for Halloween so I used Bella Blvd.'s "Trick-Or-Treat" line for a couple of Halloween layouts with last years photos.  Yes, I am slightly addicted to Bella Blvd. right now, I love the funness (yes, I'm making that a word!) of their papers and embellishments, so perfect for young kids I think.
Anyhow, here is last week's sketch and some pumpkin carving/decorating:

For the cardstock base I used some textured Bazzill cardstock and ran my sanding block over it lightly.  I keep forgetting I have this cardstock in my stash and just love it!

And here is this week's awesome sketch:

I'm glad I still have two more pages left to do of last year's Halloween, cuz I'm not done with this paper yet!!

To my Canadian scrappy pals, have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!!

Happy Scrappin'!

Happy Be-lated World Card Making Day, New LOAD Challenge, Some MOJO, And New Guest Design Team Member!!!

Welcome Fall!!!  My goodness I just LOVE the beautiful explosion of colour that Fall brings, definitely my favourite season!  Despite of the cold  and cough it always seems to bring on the minute I turn my heat on!  Kids and I were all hit with it this past week, but I seem to have gotten the worst of it and I think it was due to being already stressed and exhausted over the loss of my fur baby.  It's been two weeks today and I still miss her a ton and have my moments of tearing up, but each day is getting easier.  Needless to say, I have not gotten much scrapbooking done!!  At least not traditionally, I have been doing a lot of digital with CTMH's Studio J since I don't have to move much! **if you have not tried this program yet, you really should, it is soooo easy and fun and a great way to "catch up" on your scrapbooking ;-)  Signing up is FREE and you can play around making layouts to your hearts content - you will only pay for what you put in your cart and approve.  So login today and check it out! Just click on Products and scroll to Studio J :-)

This past Saturday was World Card Making Day, as many of you know, and I did manage to celebrate by making one card.  Let's Scrap started a WCMD Load Challenge that started on Saturday and goes till midnight Oct.31st - great way to get yourself going on some holiday cards and sharing them with others!!

Click HERE to check it out!

This is the card I got done, I'm going to give it to our Vet staff for being so wonderful to my fur baby and us during such a difficult time.  I also used up the last of some VERY old CTMH paper, which always feels good :-)

Now hopefully I can get more cards done this month and get a jump start on Christmas cards!  One great advantage I have for that is . . .  wait for it, it's AWESOME news . . . I'm Guest Designer over at Scrapbook Nerd!!!!!!  Whoo hoo!!!  So very excited about this, it is a FABULOUS Canadian Site - forum, gallery and store.

I will be revealing 8 or more cards at the end of October, and then again at the end of November, so I hope you can jump on over and join us at Scrapbook Nerd!!!

Lastly, I'd just like to share a layout I did a couple weeks ago.  I was inspired by Mojo #311, which I know is a card sketch, but I turned it into a layout :-)  I used all Bella Blvd. products except the ink.  First time splattering with white ink and I really like the look!

This photo is from 1999 and is one of my favourites, and I am so happy with the way the layout turned out with it :-)  Bella Blvd. papers are just so cheerful and fun, perfect for the mood of the photo!

Thank you for dropping by, I am off to attempt some more cards!

Happy Scrappin'!!
