Happy Easter Weekend!

Probably going to unplug for most of this weekend as hubby has four days off - yay!  So going to leave you with this card I made today using CTMH's "My Peeps" (retired) and Chantilly paper.  Have seen a few versions of this floating around, and just love it, so this is my version!

Happy Easter!!

Getting Sketchy!

It's been awhile since I posted any sketches, but I've had some time lately to get some personal scrapbooking done and have used a few sketches to get the creative juices going :-)  First one is last week's sketch over at Let's Scrap and I finished up some beach photos from summer of 2011.
Here is the sketch:

and here is my take on it using Simple Stories "100 Days of Summer" paper, Close To My Heart cardstock and brads, Teresa Collins Dots, and some Glitz Design washi tape (loving the washi tape!!):

I don't know how "fun" my title is, but it is certainly larger than I normally do, and I mixed it up with pre-printed title card, word stickers and letter stickers with some outlining.  I'm not overly happy with it, but moving on non the less :-)

This photo went sideways, but since I only really wanted to highlight the flowers and circles, I didn't take the time to correct it!  I used punces for all the circles and the black flower outlines, but fussy cut the coloured flowers from a sheet of patterned paper.  Was initially going to do all flowers but after cutting out a couple I quickly switched my plan to circles!!

This was a fun layout to do this past week too, since Edmonton has gotten snow, snow and more snow!  I dreamed of summer!

This next sketch I found on Pinterest (wow!  that's an addiction and a half!  love it!), and it's is from PageMaps.  I loved the look of the strips of paper - and immediately saw it as an opportunity to use my washi tape! However, this is definately a step out of my comfort zone, being that it a single page layout for one, but also just two smaller photos.  Thankfully my cousin's school pics offered perfect inspiration to try this sketch :-)

Quite happy with the finished product, and even more fun than the washi tape strips - gettin' messy with ink splatters!

Last sketch is the free download from Scrapbook Generations.  LOVE LOVE LOVE Scrapbook Generations, their sketches are amazing and I love their style of scrapbooking - simple, classic, yet trendy and the focus is on the photos.  If you have not checked out their site you, I encourage you to do so by clicking HERE.

Here is my take on the sketch:

I recently bought the new American Crafts, Dear Lizzy "Lucky Charm" paper and chipboard bits and when I saw the word "Lovely" I immediately thought of these photos of my DD.

When the layout was done I noticed that the top left corner of the layout, where it said "name" looked a bit too bare, so what a better way to fill it up then getting the star of the layout to sign her own name :-)  Isn't she lovely?!!

Well that is it for today!  Got a little bit of time on my hands right now so gonna get some more scrappin' done!
Thanks for stopping by my scrap happy place - if you have a moment to comment I'd love to know you were here :-)

Mini Album For the Boys!

Two years ago I bought this mini album kit at BC Crop for Kids, featuring Bella Blvd products and put together by the uber talented Jennifer Edwardson from Scrapbookin' Adventures in Parksville, BC.  It has obviously taken me awhile, but I finally got it all put together!  Now I took some artistic liberties of course and tried to "make it mine", but inspiration came easy from Jennifer's design and I highly recommend checking out her blog for more fabuliciousness!  (yes, I'm making that a word!).

So if you are looking for something for that special guy in your life (Father's Day?!), consider this macho mini for $35 (plus shipping).

The year on the front page could be changed:

I like this next shot, as it shows you the many different "layers" and mediums used in this album:  page protectors, chipboard, and acrylic:

This I think is my favourite page, just love that "Cool Dude" banner and "Pow" metal accent!  I see a photo of superhero's going here . . .

"Man of the House" is a more versatile title than you may initially think too - this can be Dad, Husband or Son, big or little.  Got a great photo of your son/grandson playing with his pretend tools or "helping" Dad fix something?!

Sorry about the glare on this one!

And finally the back inside cover.  I did not stamp the "Place Photo Here" but there is plenty of room to add one or a few more photos here too, or add a special message to your special guy.  Gift to Dad or Grandpa on Father's Day?  Have the kids sign this page! :-)

This album measures 1.5"H x 11"L x 8.5"W and weighs about 600g.  Message me at papercandiedesigns@gmail.com with your postal code and/or mailing address for a shipping quote :-)

Thank you for stopping by my scrap happy place today!  Want to see more pre-done items for sale, check out my facebook link at the top right of the blog :-)

Family Album

So I've had these two chipboard mini albums sitting in my craft room for ages now (yes, years!), and with the school marketplace this past Thursday having been the fire under my bum that I needed, I finally got them both completed!  Here is the first one, a "Family" chipboard album by Bo Bunny that I put together using Echo Parks "For The Record" paper mostly.

The black and white polka dot washi tape is by October Afternoon I believe, and I love how it pulled all the pages together!

I have no idea where the red paper flowers came from - downside to having all my flowers stored in one big bin I suppose!  The decorative brads though are by both CTMH and SU!

Most of the stickers I used on this page were leftovers from a very old SU! kit.  I used up the paper ages ago but didn't have the heart to toss out the remaining stickes cuz I really loved the colours.  Glad they worked in well with the Echo Park papers and finally found a "home", tee hee!

Left this page pretty clean since the background paper was busy enough, but really like the simplicity of it :-)

And the last page!  This is the page that started my vision for the whole album actually.  I LOVED that bird and right away saw him sitting on that beautiful black flourish.  Try as I might though, I could not get it to look just right.  So I set it aside and did the rest of the album first and this was the last page I completed.  At that point it really did just fall together.

.
Feels good to finally see this album complete and ready for photos!  I will be placing it for sale in my Paper Candie Designs shop on Facebook - www.facebook.com/papercandie and would love it if you visited me there too!

Will be back later to post the other mini album - one for the boy or boys in your life!

Happy Scrappin'!

Proud Mom Moments!

For the last five years I have been a proud, supportive mom to a beautiful dancing diva and love it!  My DD started dancing at the age of four and she took to it instantly.  I was glad that she so easily found something that she loved  - and does well at - but what a different world for me!  It amazes me that this Pink Princess came from me, as I have always been a tomboy, enjoying sports much more than shopping sprees, and the comfort of my yoga pants, t-shirts and ponytails to dresses, sparkles and glitter (unless it's on a scrapbook page of course!).  Yet nothing makes me prouder than seeing my baby girl dance across the stage in her sparkly costumes, smiling big!
This year she is taking Jazz and, for the first time, Tap, and it will be her first time in competition.  I cannot wait to see her first competition dances!  Rehearsals are this week and so last week we got the costumes - talk about the perfect fit for my PINK girl!!

Tap Costume - the photo turned out pretty blue toned, but the costume is all pink with pink sequins and feathers with a touch of silver:

These will sure make great dress up costumes after dance is over :-)

Now, I must add, DD is also very athletic.  She does not LIKE doing sports, but when she does, she does well.  One sport I think she just may have fallen in love with last week though is skiiing.  Her class went on a ski trip last week and she got to learn to ski for the first time ever!  She did great!!

Had to share this one too, just too cute!  Enjoying some hot chocolate after a run :-)

This year also marked my DS's first time in hockey, and his season just wrapped up this past weekend.  As a beginner they focused on skating and skills mostly, only playing short mock games during practise, but this past weekend he got to play two "official" games (half ice) in his first tournament.  Not sure who was more excited and proud - DS, Daddy, or Mommy!!
At the start of the season, DS had never even put on skates before and spent most of his first few practices crawling on the ice (this was actually pretty darn cute!).

Here he is getting fitted for his gear at the beginning of the season:

And the incredibly cute crawling stage:

And despite spending the first three practices mostly crawling, he never gave up and just check out the smile he had after his very first practice:

So very proud of him!!!  He learnt so much these past few months and it is obvious that hockey is going to be his thing.  Here are a few shots from his tournament this past weekend:

DS is #19:

This one I just thought was a cool shot, just screams game day :-)

After the tournament getting his medal and t-shirt:

In the dressing room after the games with his hockey buddy:

Well now that is the end of my Mommy bragging session for today!  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my cuties :-)
